What I did Wednesday

Evening partners!

After a bit of a hiccup yesterday today I hit the ground running.

Kicking it off with an amazing breakfast. I haven’t had my egg scramble in a few! It is one of my favorite breakfasts and keeps me full forever! Today’s mix included green peppers, onions, two slices of turkey bacon, some mozzarella cheese and a big ole heap of salsa. I’m currently in a salsa kick I can’t  get enough of it. I should start a twitter hashtag called #speaksalsa just to hear about how others eat it! I think, I might just set that up! If you are on twitter be sure to give me a follow @cusecomm.

Breakfast Scramble

My morning workout included a super quick 10 minute Backside workout. Thanks to my handy iphone daily workouts app. I love this thing!

1 minute each:

  • Squats
  • Front lungue
  •  Side lunges
  • Mule kicks left leg
  • Mule kicks right leg
  •  Froggy lifts
  • More squats
  • Bridge Lifts
  • Squats
  • Plank

While my house was still silent and my coffee was warm. I checked out a package my husband left for me on the counter. THANK YOU LAUREN! Lauren from Joyfulshimmy.com saw my sadness in not getting the Mod Cloth headband in my birchbox this month and sent me her’s!  How sweet is this girl?!  I can’t wait to get all gussied up in it!

After finishing up some work and feeding the troops we set off on an epic adventure to walk to the playground! Clocking in at just over 6 miles I pushed the two little ones in a walk/run pattern to the playground. A great workout for mommy, 6 miles pushing an additional 100+ pounds of children and stroller…… I’ll take it any day!

Kids aren’t the only ones who love a swing in the summer sun….. Miley was getting in on the action too!

Tonight also marked the beginning of the end of my break from hockey season. Summer Hockey begins. I know my son loves it but sometimes it’s really difficult to leave the 80 degree sunshine for the freezing ice rink. 🙂

Sadly  though this is only big boy hockey! Even though my youngest wore his helmet just in case….. he couldn’t get on the ice.

And there you have it my super busy day! I hope you all had a fabulous day as well!

Easy Granola

Happy Monday Morning!

I kicked off my morning with a quick treadmill run. I need to recommit to getting my 5k time back under 30 minutes. Today I used the couch to 5k app for a little kick in the butt. I’m working on a monthly plan for June that will concentrate on building my core (mine needs LOTS of work) and speed. Although I’ve been doing much better with daily workouts I haven’t really been pushing myself the way I should.  My philosophy is feeling the BURN this month.  If you missed all the new transitions going on in my life this month you can read more here. One of the many changes will be having more AM time for workouts.

After the sweaty run I enjoyed this fabulous breakfast. Chobani Vanilla, blueberries, strawberries and some granola.

All mixed up in my favorite Mackenzie Child’s bowl! Doesn’t that granola look Delish? I made it myself! Last night I was combing through the grocery store looking for some new granola. When my search left me without any new options I decided to venture and make my own from what I had lying about the ole’ pantry.

Renee’s Easy Granola:

2 cups rolled oats

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 table spoon brown sugar

1/2 cup raisins

1/2 cup honey

2 tablespoons olive oil

Set aside the raisins. I mixed these all ingredients together in a large bowl. Make sure all the oats are covered.

Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. Stir the mixture after 5 minutes and continue baking. Once removed from the oven add in the raisins stir and let cool.

Making granola was much easier that I thought. I’m going to have to try out some other granola recipes there is a peanut butter one out there that looks to die for! 🙂

Wordless Wednesday with Instagram

I’ve never done a wordless Wednesday post but It’s a little crazy around here this week!  My husband finished his last night of classes this week.  After 5 years, yes FIVE years of school! I’m so proud of him it’s been a long challenge 5 years of working 40 plus hours a week then going to school two nights a week! It will be strange for me to see him before 10pm on a Monday or Tuesday night. Workout today is a simple 3 mile run nothing fancy just getting ready for Saturday.

I’m also working on some new things for the blog and prepping for the trip to #FitblogNYC so don’t mind the short post today I will be back tomorrow with some exciting stuff! 🙂

All photo’s were edited with instagram…one of my favorite iphone apps and now available for driod!  Also I’m very sad they were sold to facebook. I’m not a big fan of facebook since they tend to  buy things and ruin them. I hope instagram remains a standalone app and not a feature of facebook.  I also have the photoshop app but it doesn’t do very much. Anyone have any other great iphone photo editing apps?
